Why is this even in court? This should be the parents' and the school's responsibility to resolve. Unless this kid literally like broke bones or caused serious damage past the normal black eye and a few scrapes.

When they discover that taking his Wii didn't solve anything then what will they blame instead?
Of course, the Wii may have damaged his brain so severly the only option would be to send him out into the wilderness for five years or so.

The Judge is 100% wrong. Depending on what the person did, it is OK to set a bond or bail. However, taking a person's videogame system is not a illegitimate option. At the very least, the Judge should be suspended. If his family really pushed the issue, in a world were government was more accountable, the Judge would be removed from the bench and the government would return the Wii along with monetary compensation. However, I would even expect something like that to happen in New Hampshire, let alone Canada where government is far beyond reasonable limits.

well thats the thing, it may be temporary pushiment, but actually it affect more the kids than the parents. unless they are really poor.
