I think the reason is called mods/custom maps and $$DLC... they don't fit well together

IW lows the player count in the PC version and no this... they are horrid devs that really DO NOT listen to their fans. I really dont see why people praise them as great developers. COD is overrated generic crap. Give me DoD or CS any day of the week.

Well let's face it. Exclusively using matchmaking came into play because consoles couldn't handle a server browser. How would you control it easily with analog sticks? Also why does it matter if all the games are the exact same thing, no mods whether new gametypes or maps or w/e, and just abut EVERYTHING is set in stone? That's by far a console move, not a PC move. Seeing their reasoning for why MW2 has turned to crap, it's more or less the same as matchmaking.

Exactly what about a list of servers would be hard to control on analog sticks?  Sort by players, sort by ping, filter by map, filter by whatever.  There are already console games that have this.

Selecting filters, the sorting, the overall view, it's just coducive to an analog stick one bit.

Let's see, back in the day whenit all started all games lacked mods on the consoles, all games also lacked any special made game types, maps, or anything of that sort. It was all the same across all games. You play the given game type and the given map and that's it. No options whatsoever. It's ever so slightly better than before but it is still utterly boring and lacking at that area even now.

Basically matchmaking only works when a game is uniform, which most console games are, not when it gets added contnent all the time, which PC games do.

I thought the ps3 had text chat in game for every game, and wtf every pc game has mouse controls.

This, indeed, is how it should be. I am VERY happy with the game. It's a straigh up PC game with minimal concessions to cater to consoles. The way it should be.

The bolded is just silly.

 

I see nothing about the concept of matchmaking that precludes mods.  The only issue would be the issue of being placed in suboptimal matches due to low player counts for some mods.  It would basically be placing you in a match with the only people playing with the mod.
