Forums - Gaming - Infinity Ward: Wii Can't Deliver Our Multi-Platform Experience

Source: KOTAKU

The first Modern Warfare was truly a multi-platform release, appearing on the Xbox 360, PS3, PC/Mac and a Nintendo Wii port. Its sequel, Modern Warfare 2, isn't getting a Wii port just yet.

Whether Activision has a studio like Treyarch do a Wii port of Modern Warfare 2 remains to be seen, but developer Infinity Ward doesn't seem interested in putting out Wii titles for future titles.

"If we felt like we could deliver the cinematic experience we were going for on other platforms, then we would gladly move to that platform," said Infinity Ward community manager Robert Bowling. "Right now, we don't think the Wii can deliver the exact experience that we're doing. We like to be very equal across all platforms, and if it's not equal then we won't do it."

Bowling also hinted that the studio could work on an original IP after Modern Warfare 2 — but that doesn't mean Infinity Ward is done with Call of Duty games.

"If we do want to do something else, then we will do it," says Bowling. "We don't feel tied to making Call of Duty games." Infinity Ward, Bowling says, makes Call of Duty games because the studio has fun doing them. "And when it stops being fun, we'll move onto something else." And that something else probably won't be on the Wii.

umh ok... we already knew they didn't develop on the wii, now we know why... they want to make movies not games...

in other news, all platforms being equal is their aim confirmed, which kind of confirms their motivation for the changes on PC ... DLC.

Should read:

We can't deliver a Wii experience.

Nov 2016 - NES outsells PS1 (JP)

Don't Play Stationary 4 ever. Switch!

It's a shame that a developer such as IW can't deliver a proper Wii version of stunning game.
Don't worry, Treyarch will do it.

Yet TreyArch are doing it?

TreyArch > Infinity Ward comfirmed?

I don't believe Infinity Ward thinks much of what Treyarch does. Haven't they made snide remarks about Treyarch in the past?

Ya know this story kinda hard to take when treyarch has already done it.

This thread was the origianl, but there's another with more views, and comments.

TreyArch > Infinity Ward comfirmed?

They care about making their game experiences equal across all platforms. Treyarch obviously does not. Or do you believe that CoD:WaW is the same on the Wii as it is on the HD consoles?

Where are those Wii Nazi Zombies?

Treyarch are definitely NOT "doing it". They put games on the Wii. Not equal games. IW believes that if they produce a game, the experience should be the same for all who purchase it. There should be NO discrepancies between any of the versions. With that said, obviously the Wii faulters. Unless you want them to cater to the lowest denominator, which would result in MW2 not being all it's supposed to be

Funny how its always the developers fault that Nintendo chose to use outdated hardware. You reap what you sow.

"I want you to make a brilliant movie with blazing effects for me but there's a catch; you can only release it on VHS..."

Are you saying that Infinity Ward can not developer the same game in standard definition? That's bull. Treyarch is actually doing it as having been previously stated. The lack of the Zombie game on the Wii version could be due to a number of reasons like lack of time or not enough funding by activision. Do not let that blind you as the Wii storage media is the same size as the Dvds used by the Xbox 360. The Zombie game had nothing to do with the Wii hardware limitations.

If Nintendo is successful at the moment, it’s because they are good, and I cannot blame them for that. What we should do is try to be just as good.----Laurent Benadiba
