Famousringo,
Hey, that's how Famitsu is. The content of their reviews is usually very kind to developers.
Demon's Souls got a 6 from one reviewer and their only complaint mentioned was that it was too hard and that you use souls for everything.

My bad, "the" is supposed to be there.
The point of being kind to keep up the good relationships of the Famitsu magazine and the developers and publishers. They still give an honest score, but they try to be nice with their words. At least, this is the way I see it.
Wow, I thought this game looked really good. I wonder what disappointed them.
At first I wasn't so sure about those numbers, but the comments about the game itself seem genuinely favorable.
I've pretty much lost interest in this game, especially after reading the IGN preview. It's much more of an action adventure game than RPG, and it seems the gameplay is dumbed down for the sake of accessibility. I guess Square thought they could grab the Wii Fit crowd and went after them instead of catering to their fans, which is foolish.

Odd, in the West it's generally the reverse. More or less honest words, boosted score. For example, the controversial review at Gamepot for Kane and Lynch was very negative, yet it still scored 7.5.
The reason for boosting numbers rather than in words is simple, lying or exaggerating in reviews will be more easily caught by readers than a slight boost to a subjective numeric representation of the games value.
A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.
