Forums - Gaming - Dragon Age: Origins PC/PS3 superior version?

http://gamer.blorge.com/2009/10/25/bioware-exploring-mod-support-on-ps3-for-dragon-age-origins/

If you follow the link they talk about the Mod Tool set for the game.

Now for me Mods make a game better, users can create their own patches, fix textures, make new weapons, clothings, as well as new worlds in the game. There are some very talented modders out there. These are the only reason i feel the PC is the best when it comes to games. However if they allow mods that are made for PC to go to the PS3 does that make those two the better versions. MS doesn't like user created content and don't allow it. They may change their mind though. Obviously the better mods may be taken by BioWare and made better and re-released onto the systems. But if they have the tool set for the PS3 then a lot of mods can be made for the PS3.

What are your thoughts on this?

^this link shows the tool set, it's very interesting.

That is quite interesting actually. I hope Sony and BioWare work out a good solution for this!

Yeah, let's hope this happens. Bioware have done a great job on the PS3

MS doesn't allow user created content? Then please explain why there is a massive community making Halo 3 maps? Far Cry has tons of user created maps too.

There is tons of user created content on the 360.

The article doesn't indicate this as a PS3 exclusive though. Seems likely to be for PS3 and XBOX 360 should they decide to go through with it.

They are generally less friendly with it, and UT III PC made mods couldn't be transferred to the 360, but they could to the PS3

MS allowed that, Sony is more open to mods. MS doesn't just allow all mods to go over, i'm sure they monitor them or something. But those are maps, not mods that change the game with textures, creating characters running around naked lol. Maps i think are a different type of mod that doesn't do much. Plus those aren't RPG's their FPS's.

The VP of BioWare stated only PC/PS3. I'm not saying 360 won't see the best mods that are made, only that PC/PS3 will see more mods. Maybe some that are stupid maybe some that are to sexual that wouldn't go to the 360 because MS won't allow it.

Wow, that will be a smart move if Sony and Bioware come to an agreement. Being able to use the PC mods in the PS3 version will be a huge step forward into bringing more and more User content into the console RPG world ;). If this would have been done a couple of years ago, I can imagine the 15 GB of mods I have for Oblivion on my PS3, making it the ultimate Oblivion version ever xD
