Forums - Microsoft - Best deal for a 360 arcade coming this weekend?

Wow... I may just have to buy a few of these. Is there any special conditions? (such as one gift card per customer/per transaction)

If there is no conditions, I may just buy like 5 of them, sell them on eBay or craigslist, and keep the gift cards to use on groceries and games in the future. I could probably get $149 for a new arcade on Craigslist so that'd be some decent profit right there ($250).

I hadn't thought about that!  I may do something similar, it would be very easy to sell these on ebay for $150-$180.

For some reason I was thinking the Gift Card was for video game related stuff only but if its for Wal-mart then it wouldn't matter what you purchase.

This is a great deal, i've been looking for deals for close to 2 months on eBay, and half.com where i can get an Arcade for cheappp, since i need a second console for my 60GB hard drive. If this is true, i'm buying.

Dont think anyone tracks Walmart sales.... or did I dream that?

I am sure microsoft does! :P

me too... but i dont think they count here

everyone tracks wallmart...it's just that no one receives any data from wallmart and therefore the tracking of wallmart has to be extrapolated.  that makes the contribution of wallmart more prone to error.

How would one extrapolate data when there is none to extrapolate?

i don't make the models so don't ask me, that's ioi/NPD's job but it probably has something to do with measuring the relative market share wallmart has vs. the other retailers for which data is known.

think of it this way, if wallmart wasnt' tracked then this would be true:

(MS/Sony/ Nintendo) total LTD shipping = vgchartz numbers + what is currently on the shelves + wallmart sales.  with wallmart being (i believe) the largest retailer in america then if walmart wasn't tracked by vgchartz/npd then both of their numbers would be in the ballpark of 30% less than the shipping figures which for the 360 in america is a more than 5 million unit descrepency.

@kitler

so it isnt "tracked" its guessed based on expected wallmart market share of sales

but that model would be broken and wouldnt work if Wallmart had an offer and nobody else did.... there would be no way of knowing how their market share of sales had increased....?

That would make since to me,  how would they know about the special deals like this.

If they're doing that now then Black Friday will be Epic!
