Uncharted and Gears are two totally different games. They may share similar core mechanics, but Gears is more innovative. Uncharted took almost all of its major parts from other games and perfected it. Uncharted is a Cliffhanger/ Indiana Jones adventure and Gears is a post apocalyptic Human/Locust battle for the fate of humanity. Both are great in their own way. Uncharted holds your hands in the game, because it plays like a movie. Gears saves the cinematic approach for needed moments and floods you with gameplay (if you play on the right level).

I can't comment on which game is better since I've never played Uncharted but I will say Gears was my most hyped game of all time. When the first Gears came out no other game existed in my mind. Gears was an amazing title to finally get this gen kicked off in the right direction.

im still playing the first Uncharted game, and so far im very impressed, but for me, the original Gears of War is my favourite and most played game this gen. Gears 2 has a great campaign also and the superb Horde game mode, though to me the standard multiplayer just isnt as fun as the first.

In all fairness, they both have their innovative aspects, but BOTH have borrowed from one game or another. Where they're different, as you mentioned, is in some ways, why this comparison is a little off. However, for their respective fanbases, they ARE comparable, even though Gears is the undisputed winner on the sales front.

Uncharted hasn't done anything that I haven't seen in Prince of persia, Tomb Raider and Killswitch (Add major mechanics of all three of those games and you've got Uncharted). Gears 2 not only took what Killswitch did, but they added ontop of it. Uncharted just perfected the use of mechanics other games create or made popular. I love both games in their own way. Uncharted is what one would call a 'safe game'.

I used to agree with the statement Gears 2 MP  isn't as fun as the first but since I've played both recently the 2nd Gears actually has much better MP. If you haven't popped in Gears 2 for some MP lately do it as it is fixed. 30 second waits between matches is a thing of the norm, not the 10 minute waits when it first came out. Gears 2 mp is light years ahead of what it was when the game was first released. Plus as I have found in Gears 1 every match has someone who quits mid match. I played 10-20 matches and couldn't finish the match before everyone quit. Play a few rounds of both Gears 1 and 2 mp and see if you don't change your mind. I think you might.

unfortunatley my 360 is broken atm, but once its fixed/replaced ill check Gears 2 again.

I disagree strongly. I can't think of any games besides maybe Assassin's Creed that do climbing, jumping, etc. as well as Uncharted. Gears of War is great but what do you find so original about it? I'm actually asking. I think you've got it backwards. I would say Uncharted is more innovative and Gears "perfected" its style of gameplay.

What is there to disagree with? I gave examples such as Prince of Persia, Tomb Raider and Killswitch. All of these games came before Uncharted and. The only thing you've got on Gears is Killswitch. Uncharted by no stretch of the imagination is innovative. It just took from other great games and made its own name. Because of Uncharted I may never look at Tomb Raider again, because it is the total package of the games which I forementioned. Gears took from killswitch and innovated and pushing the third person shooters with aggessive warlike atmosphere that makes you feel like you're in a war complete with action, bayonette slicing, Quick reload/ Jamming. Gears is so innovative that Tecmo was compelled to make a game that looks exactly like it in the form of Quantum Theory for the PS3. That game...well..looks like a joke, but still a compliment is a compliment.

The only thing that I find Gears of War truly innovated was the quick reload mini game thing (Something similar may even be in another game that I just haven't found). Uncharted innovated several smaller thing that I hadn't seen in other games, like character models reacting to water (getting wet), plants/foliage reacting to character movement, being able to do third person aiming over the right or left shoulder (actually, I'm pretty sure other games have done this, but for some reason Uncharted is the first time I can remember seeing it). While not effecting gameplay directly I think these helped imerse the player into the game world.

I hate how tons of people call down Uncharted for being uninnovative.. probably 9.9/10 games bring nothing new to the table, so why pick on Uncharted when it did, and carried an awesome experience with it.
