Forums - Nintendo - Should Nintendo really be proud of third parties success on Wii?

Nice chart therepublic.

That is a ludicrous number of NES games, I spose back then games were quicker to make, but still. Impressive.

The Wii had the most games of any console since the NES at the end of calender year 2. Some might say Nintendo then slacked off in their third year to make room for 3rd parties, but I suspect the Wiiware games had a decent amount to do with it.

I don't think they really slacked off, but it seems like Nintendo could have done a better job at making sure that it was more of a constant stream of projects finishing.  Instead we got a ton of stuff in 2007, and it made 2008 look empty.  Even worse, the big hitters all came in early 2008.

Also quite retarded that you say Nintendos titles underperforms, for obvious reasons.

How is it retarted, Nintendo's titles are loosing 2 to 1. I'd say that is underperforming. Sure the titles are selling millions more copies then the third party titles are. However Nintendo is known for its market dominance and a loss of 2 to 1 is horrible. Should Nintendo really be so exited to see third party titles selling that well.

I think Microsoft or Sony would kill to see their first party software sell 2 to 1 like Nintendo's did during the N64 GameCube. I bet they are laughing their heads off at Nintendo. "Dude look Nintendo's happy that third parties are seeing more titles reach a million, their happy that they are loosing marketshare"!
