Forums - Sales - Bayonetta selling out for 360?

Apparently Kotaku is saying stores are running out of the 360 version.

My guess is that the 360 version being the superior one and the fact retailers probably didn't order enough copies believing low sales was the main reasons.

your thoughts guys/gals

My thoughts are "day 1 40/40 famitsu, maker of DMC1 epic win."

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

doubt that is true with nearly PS3 install base is nearly 4 times 360 install base in Japan it did half of PS3 version sales and thats very good.

Kash -

The problem is that most games sell 3 or 4 times in favor of the PS3 version in Japan, yet sold 2:1 for Bayonetta. Because of that, it may indeed be selling out on the 360 and not the PS3. That doesn't really mean much if the PS3 version will end up selling 2:1 better, but still good for the 360 and even better for Bayonetta. 150k sold first day between both is fantastic for Sega.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

The reason why it sold out was because they only shipped 58k for the week and first day sales were 45k. Lower install base with the least amount of games bought on that system doesn't ship with the same amount of copies as the larger console.

The PS3 version first day sales were 93K with a total shipment of 163K for the week. Famitsu doesn't represent all of Japan and that region doesn't care about a 40/40 vs a 38/40. The PS3 version will still sell more.

This type of thing happens. Like with blazeblue the PS3 version was always sold out because they ordered 3X as many of the 360 version.

i'm happy that platinum games finally have a hit game they deserve it

Bayonetta is great, at least from what I heard. But I won't buy this game, I don't like the art direction of the game, the enemies have no appeal to me.

i think we can all agree that bayonetta did well for first day sales on the 360 but in the end PS3 will still sell more just due to the larger install base.

Sega may have a hit on their hands here. I expect around 2 million in sales WW.
