Forums - Website Topics - The Rules About Calling Things "Exclusive"

I do have a serious question. With Microsoft releasing Natal next year. 3rd parties are going to be releasing patches to their games. I'm not sure if you would consider these ports(since your definition is "Ports are generally the same generation and a transfer to another platform with minor changes" And I see this as a pretty major differences) or exclusives. What is your take on this, Naznatips?

Not exclusive. Control differences are a factor of split platforms, just as graphical differences are. A good example of this is that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare on Wii is not a Wii exclusive, but a port of the already released HD game. There are completely different controls, and worse graphics, but it's the same game. Same with World at War.

I added this to the OP as well: To be clear this will be enforced both ways. If someone makes a thread about 360 Exclusives and correctly lables Console Exclusives and you come in bitching about "oh but those are on PC too" you will be moderated for trolling.

Wasn't a member recently banned because he mentioned that ME2 wasn't exclusive?

Yes I remember that lol.

And I think it was Nordlead.

*points finger to Nordlead*

I have a simple question:

Do we get ban or we receive a warning message?

Because sometimes the person might simply not know that, for example, a PC version is also in the work and he would call the game a 360 exclusive.

I read the whole thread and I could not find an answer.

we're in 2009 now... shouldn't anyone know whats an "exclusive" by now unless you're new

:-l

I am glad this is getting implemented but I still think the term "console exclusive" needs to go as well. Not to mention if there is a thread made about these games they should be made in the gaming forum since the can be played on multiple platforms. Which is one of the reasons that forum section exists.

You'll be moderated like with any other offense. Warning on first offense, progressively longer bans on repeat offenses. Generally if you are trying to post about exclusives you should take a few seconds to confirm your information via one of many available sources on the internet.

Question!

What if we post a news story, such as "New 360 exclusive" and its also on PC would we get banned or warned for that?

See above.

Alright thanks.

I never really got any warning messages (except some Game database warnings about things I was not doing the right way >.<) and I've never been banned so I didn't really how it worked.

#1 Naz kind of got me hot and flustered with that directness, very oddly attractive! (sorry Nax lol)

#2 Seriously this is common sense and shouldn't surprise anyone. Descriptive words are used to further define a term, that is all that is going on. Console exclusive clearly defines something as it should be. For example, while I adore PS3 and Sony, FFXIV is not exclusive to PS3 it is only console exclusive (not to mention Square is probably going to release it on X360 on some kind of timed release setup IMO).

Oh yeah, something off the wall, TIME CHANGE this weekend for those of us that have to endure that crap.

Edit: Thanks Boutros for catching that one Must have been the upcoming time change lol.
