Forums - Sales - Capcom Hopes To Sell 300K Copies Of Motion-Controlled Resident Evil 5

Source: KOTAKU

The company also expects to sell more than 10 times that for Lost Planet 2.

In a report of the company's performance for the first half of its fiscal year, Capcom provided sales projections for some of its biggest console games on the horizon.

The chart below, shows blockbuster expectations for Lost Planet 2 and a moderate hope for success with the recently-announced modified Resident Evil 5 that would be played with Sony's spring 2010-slated PlayStation 3 motion controller.

Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition is currently announced only for release in Japan. It includes the 2009 game as well as a two-hour bonus mission starring Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine.

That's a high number for Lost planet 2.

They only listed the PS3 version of Alternative Edition, and it is listed as worldwide in March. Hopefully, this means the motion controller will be ready in March worldwide.

Yeah LP2 can do that.

I think LP2 and Dark Void are really high....

"We'll toss the dice however they fall,
And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

I have a feeling that Dark Void will flop.

I think this is probably their shipping expectations and not sell through.

"Like you know"

they finally lowered the dark void expectations. A little more reasonable now, although the hype doesn't seem to be too high. Lost Planet expectations are high too, they expect to sell 3.7 million in just this fiscal year. That's gonna be tough.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

First sentence is anti-Sony FUD, to title the post about the motion control version of an already-released game and then immediately mention that they expect so many more sales of a new multiplat game, LOL!  Again, Kotaku am fail.

did say 50k first week 200k lifetime...

I dont think LP2 will do that well. I actually feel it would sell better if it were a PS exclusive rather than a multiplat.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.
