Forums - Gaming - Insomniac says: Players don't want 60 fps, better graphics instead.

An Insomniac employee has posted a blog in wich he states that gamers do not think 60fps is a big deal and that better graphical detail is more important. Also, it says Insomniac says it might stop creating games with 60fps, and turn to 30fps instead.

I for one completely agree, although 60 fps is noticable, it's not worth a decrease in graphical quality. Also i think this has been proven in the past before. Take GTA: San Andreas for example, the PS2 didn't even manage 30 fps most of the time but it didn't stop it from becoming a great game and one of the best selling of all time.

Another great example is Uncharted 2. That game looks amazing and does the 30fps framerate ruin any of the experience? No, it doesn't bother me at all.

On an other note, i think the same way about ''Full HD'' or 1080P, i don't think the current generation of consoles should focus on that resolution for games. God of War 3 would looki much better(not that it doesn't look good now) if they hade stuck to 720P, we've al heard the complaints about low detail textures for example. And what about GT5: 60fps AND 1080P. Although PD pulls it of nicely, think about how detailed it could have lookd if they hade gone with 720P.

Let me know what you guy's think.

I wonder if that means that there could be greater cross-platform development to include technologically-lessor consoles and related units.

(PS -- that means the Wii, that means handhelds, that means cell phones).

I am Mario.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

I want good gameplay, not graphics or frame rates

a lot of ps360 fans agree with you avinash. Gameplay based games would do well on the HD consoles. It's just too bad that everyone seems to think we only care about graphics.

^Well when so many HD fans compalin about the Wii's lack of graphics, and like how Epic mickey isn't so epid because its graphics don't match the concept art, well you can see where people can get the idea that HD fans are obsessed with graphics

Depends on the genres. For racing and fast-paced action games (like the Ninja Gaiden series), 60 fps is absolutely crucial in my opinion.

For most genres, 30 fps is good enough though.

What NJ5 said. 30fps is fine for a lot of games. Racing, Fighting, and most FPS games are better served with 60fps though.

they are not complaining about what the graphics look like more than that they've been underwhelmed and overhyped because of the concept art.

happens on the HD systems as well, most notably depicted by the controversy regarding shopped images on pre-release.

The graphics in the game aren't bad, but people become very upset becomes it doesn't match up with what it was shown to be. It's about a perceived sense of deception, rather than perceived lack of quality.
