I am looking into the sega genesis collection for PSP, it brings the top 50 Genesis games to the PSP.. MHM

Thank you very much for your suggestions. It should arrive soon so once I play my first batch of games I'll begin looking for more.
I do not own a SNES. As a kid it was my brother's (middle child) system. I own games on it back home, but don't have access to my own here.
The Ps3 was my brothers (youngest child), but we were roomates and there are games I played a lot. He currently lives across town so I haven't had access to it recently, but would consider getting one of my own at some point. The lack of backwards compatibility makes me less inclined to do so. I would rather wait and see if the 4 will play everything from 1 - 4 than buy a non 20 Gb PS3.
And in an odd sidenote, I am now really excited about my Genesis and couldn't give less of a crap about the Wii that the nintendo techs are sending me. My Wii was deemed a lost cause. I am getting sent some factory certified wii, that the guy on the phone swore was not in anyway a refurbished wii, sans my save data. Yep, three years of save data is now gone. Miis, pictures, channel data, non-transferable game data, friend codes every frickin' thing. I saved some of it prior to sending it but ont all of it could be sent, and there were a few things I thought a sent to a frinds wii that I apparently didn't. So I am starting mostly at square one. Of the sixty-ish game I own about twenty save file were lost due to being non-tansferable. That means I have a 1 in three chance of losing at save game roulette. I currently have lost all desire to play my wii library or to try to go through the hassle to figure out which ones I can still use my data with. I had even just bought Smash brothers, while waiting for the console return, hoping to start as soon as I got my wii back. But now, I really don't feel like unlocking the characters in a game that I can't back up on some piece of factory refurb crap. Oh, and I paid 85 for the "repair" and 20 for shipping materials.More than 50% of a new Wii.
Nintendo failed to make a system that had a back-up plan of any sort and that is inexcusable. My inablity to transfer my virtual console data to a new console was the only reason I sent this one in. I still have vc data, but at the exspense of everything I worked for. Had I the ability to just authorie a new console I would have bought a new one, transfered the vc and had my old data on a quirky system that still worked. But really, the inability to transfer or back up any game or data on my own is inexcusable. I will not buy the next nintendo console at launch and unless there is a reasonable way to manage data I will ignore it completely. I will also never buy a vc game again. Carts and emulators are just fine from now on. I might trade all wii related things I own in for something else (If you suggest the Red Ring 360 I will lsmack you, I am not buying something that I expect to go through this again with) or start softmodding. not sure really. until then I have a ups box shaped doorstop.

Theres a new (unlicensed obviously since Sega isnt in the hardware business anymore) RPG in development being created by a bunch of hobbyists for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive. I kid you not. Its called Pier Solar. Having a sentimental attachment to the Genesis, I pre-ordered it. Its $35 US (shipping included) and you get the cart (region-free), soundtrack CD (which you can use with your Sega CD to use CD-quality music with the game instead of the standard Genesis hardware audio) a glossy cardboard box for it with full color art, a 24 page manual (full color I think) and a poster. $35 is quite high for a game on an old console such as a Genesis but they arent making any profit from this. They had to charge that much to cover the production costs (carts are expensive and they gotta pay for the packaging. The glossy cardboard boxes cant be cheap either) I was dissapointed that they didnt go with the plastic clamshell but I suppose the nice looking glossy cardboard would work better for a special release like this than the cheap plastic Genesis clamshells. It makes it more Working Designs-esque, which is appropriate for a collectors item.
Maybe this is something youd be interested in (since you like jrpgs. the game is developed by westerners but its in the jrpg style) if you were crazy enough to pay $35 for a Genesis game in 2009. I think it would be worth it for myself at least due to the nostalgic value. Just to be able to dust off the old Genesis (which has been irrelevant for well over a decade) and actually buy and play an actual brand new game for it. On the actual Genesis console with the actual Genesis controller. I think thats worth the $35 to me. And plus it has collector value. I cant wait until they finally finish that game (but I like that they are taking their time to make sure it doesnt ship out buggy). Theyre in the internal beta testing stage now but theres no release date yet. I do think Im crazy for pre-ordering this but the experience seems intriguing.
thanks for the info, I will look into it.
