Thank you very much for your suggestions. It should arrive soon so once I play my first batch of games I'll begin looking for more.
I do not own a SNES. As a kid it was my brother's (middle child) system. I own games on it back home, but don't have access to my own here.
The Ps3 was my brothers (youngest child), but we were roomates and there are games I played a lot. He currently lives across town so I haven't had access to it recently, but would consider getting one of my own at some point. The lack of backwards compatibility makes me less inclined to do so. I would rather wait and see if the 4 will play everything from 1 - 4 than buy a non 20 Gb PS3.
And in an odd sidenote, I am now really excited about my Genesis and couldn't give less of a crap about the Wii that the nintendo techs are sending me. My Wii was deemed a lost cause. I am getting sent some factory certified wii, that the guy on the phone swore was not in anyway a refurbished wii, sans my save data. Yep, three years of save data is now gone. Miis, pictures, channel data, non-transferable game data, friend codes every frickin' thing. I saved some of it prior to sending it but ont all of it could be sent, and there were a few things I thought a sent to a frinds wii that I apparently didn't. So I am starting mostly at square one. Of the sixty-ish game I own about twenty save file were lost due to being non-tansferable. That means I have a 1 in three chance of losing at save game roulette. I currently have lost all desire to play my wii library or to try to go through the hassle to figure out which ones I can still use my data with. I had even just bought Smash brothers, while waiting for the console return, hoping to start as soon as I got my wii back. But now, I really don't feel like unlocking the characters in a game that I can't back up on some piece of factory refurb crap. Oh, and I paid 85 for the "repair" and 20 for shipping materials.More than 50% of a new Wii.
Nintendo failed to make a system that had a back-up plan of any sort and that is inexcusable. My inablity to transfer my virtual console data to a new console was the only reason I sent this one in. I still have vc data, but at the exspense of everything I worked for. Had I the ability to just authorie a new console I would have bought a new one, transfered the vc and had my old data on a quirky system that still worked. But really, the inability to transfer or back up any game or data on my own is inexcusable. I will not buy the next nintendo console at launch and unless there is a reasonable way to manage data I will ignore it completely. I will also never buy a vc game again. Carts and emulators are just fine from now on. I might trade all wii related things I own in for something else (If you suggest the Red Ring 360 I will lsmack you, I am not buying something that I expect to go through this again with) or start softmodding. not sure really. until then I have a ups box shaped doorstop.
