This thread isn't about Iwata's comments, but about what Maelstrom is saying.
I suggest you click the link before commenting, because the comments on this post are my own thoughts, not Maelstrom's.
It seems to be that he's glad Nintendo realizes their game plan last year didn't work and is moving on to the games he feels sells to the mainstream better (which includes Punch Out).
Although I wouldn't classify Wii Music and Animal Crossing as USG as much as just lacking in appealing content (the former in too few songs and the latter in apparently too much of the same).
And I also agree that high production values do not make a better game. The game has to be good, with those just a bonus (or even a hinderance when it jacks up the price of minor games).
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
