Short, short version, he's not going "Nintendo are idiots for not making awesome games!", nor is he going "Nintendo will crush them all under the weight of the blue ocean!".
He's basically going (and I want to make it clear this is a summary, not a quote) "It's good Nintendo is copping to their games not being enough last holiday, and they should keep up what they are doing with games like NSMB Wii, and use the smaller production requirements of the Wii to make even more awesome games."
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
