The wii has been selling like any other console in history. It attracted new gamers. It even surpassed the competition with all and the lack of interesting software...

Read what Iwata said. they never said they failed, they just simply stated that the wii has cooled and their plans to go back.

I agree with Tres they really did fail the core gamer (not hardcore but Nintendo fans) because this is the first generation that I've felt the need for a second console.
