Iwata - "Wii has stalled. We were unable to continually release strong software, and let the nice mood cool."

Iwata - "Wii has stalled. Shiggy told me Animal Crossing and Wii Music would be like playing B3yond, and he was wrong.

Wow, once he says software I think Shigeru. V_V So Miyamoto and crew failed the Wii?

Good language everyone else seems to think the people buying Wii's failed the Wii.

I'm Unamerica and you can too.

@Avinash: Well if it was a misinterpretation, then alright. Now we gotta focus in making more predicitions, what's done is done and it's Nintendo's job to look after their own wellfare. I already made my predictions about the new DS successor and the Wii's successor.

I think their 20 million estimate will be OK. But I still stand by my prediction that this year's holiday sales will be smaller for the Wii than last year's.

Like the AVGN says, "What were they thinking" Anyway even with the horrible reception at E3 2008 and probably not soo good reception from the testers, it's a enigma (at least for me) why they trusted in 2 games like Wii Music and Animal Crossing for the holiday lineup? And according to Iwata they even think that both titles could drive sales for months.

@lord: Don't tell me what to do please. I was being critiziced left to right for my predictions and analysis. It's not being arrogant for the sake of being, but showing others how wrong they were. It's like a retribution.

I didn't tell you what to. In English "Cut out the first part, and you will get more headway in your argument," is advice, not an order. Sure some present it that way, but the dependent clause shows it's meant to be advice, which is how I used it.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Yeah, I also found it strange that the cries from most of the people at E3 fell on deaf ears. Nintendo should at least consider what gamers and industry people tell them sometimes. They are not infallible and perhaps their biggest mistake was to believe they were invincible with the Wii, considering that even then didn't expect such a success and probably thought everything they released would be gobbled up by the new audience.

Big mistake to ignore the gaming hungry section of their userbase. Many might have migrated during this big drought and getting them back will be the most difficult task. Red ocean my ass. Core gamers were starvating for great games. Nintendo followers wanted to try out Nintendo's next big thing that catered to them. Patience has its limits and when there's 2 other consoles offering what you want, then that's where you start losing customers. Coped with the lack of new ideas to draw new players in and instead they released expansions, sequels and ports, then you get that Wii is the least used out of all consoles. Casuals not getting anything new and worthwile to play while core gamers finding what they want with oterh consoles.

Wii could have been so much more... I don't have words to describe how bad they screwed up by resting on their laurels.

@Trestres, you are the perfect example of a guy who makes crazy predictions several times over, and when one is finally deemed right you jump on it and act like you knew it all along and are quick to tell the people who were wrong to "eat crow". It's a common thing I notice not just here, but everywhere.

Remember "year of the ps3?" in 2007 Sony fans said the 360 is done, the PS3 will take the lead with _____ releasing soon. Most people called the Ps3 fanboys crazy and too hopeful and laughed at them. this happened SEVERAL times over (hence the birth of the "blackboard" that listed all these occurences). After 20+ predictions of when the PS3 will start to really crush the 360, one finally came true with the Slim and $100 price cut and it has been chaos ever since with PS3 fans bragging about how succesful the slim is and acted like they knew it all along despite being wrong dozens of times in the past.

Here, I predict a 27 sided dice will land on "W", my friend says your crazy! I think it will land on everything but W!. So you roll the dice 50 times and one time it comes up as W!, despite 50 times of him being wrong he proceeds to tell his friend "HA I TOLD YOU it would land on W!".

Here I will make a crazy prediction. Wii will easily sell 2.5 million in one week this holiday season, most people would call me insane, but if it does miraculously happen? HA I TOLD YOU IT WOULD SELL 2.5 MILLION NON BELIEVERS. When in fact it was a shot in the dark.

Your prediction of lack of software would cause wii sales to decline was a typical shot in the dark. A lot of people thought this was true, a lot of people thought Nintendo had more in store for 2009 as well since Nintendo never releases information early. Obviously their lack of software in 2008 didn't hurt them as it led to the most successful holiday season ever. and the best first quarter Wii had ever seen. Wii sales were up the first quarter of 2009 and you even made that thread bragging about how the Wii sales were UP yoy, clearly you were happy to see the Wii doing well and probably didn't say "oh, the Wii will be down next quarter by over 50%" but the minute Wii sales did start to decline, you fell back on your old shot in the dark that happened to come out to be true, and here you are today acting like you knew it all along.

@ph4nt: Well, that's what predictions are. All of them are shots in the dark, unless you have a time machine, nothing you predict will be certain. But I did have a lot to back it up, if you are interested go through my post history and find out.
