No, I think it was Sony who backed out of the deal since it involved a large amount of money or something. After all, Ubisoft were the ones who offered Sony exclusive rights to the game, if I'm not mistaken.

At the time, Sony thought it didn't need to moneyhat, because it presumed that its Playstation brand was strong enough it didn't have to. They did think wrong regarding that.

Anyhow, games will sometimes run with only one of the consoles being noted as playing the game. Microsoft had done it more than Sony up until recently.
