Forums - Sony - EyePet - The Making of a Hit?

It seems Sony may have a hit on their hands with EyePet. How so, you ask?
As the Wii experience has taught us, so-called casual gamers love to buy useless pseudo games that core gamers would never touch.
EyePet apperas to meet all the necessary criteria to become a huge success:

-wholesome "fun" for the whole family
-no violence, so parents love it
-no challenge or traditional level structure
-low scores in reviews by core gamers
-totally useless but super cute

Its the new Nintendogs.

Maybe.

If advertised right, it has the chance to sell a bucketload.

My little sister saw it advertised and she wanted to "borrow" my PS3 so she could get it.

I was tempted to buy it just by looking at the box today :P it was the right price and a good way to get a PSEye too. Didn't get it but I just may buy it for my sister for Christmas.

That article is absolutely right in its reasons why the casual market should eat it up but it is forgetting one thing-- the casual audience doesn't own a PS3 and even with the casual games it has the PS3 isn't seen as the casual machine.

What does natal have to with Eyepet.   Eyepet is a game,  Natal is a motion sensing camera that allows you to control games.   Two completely different things.

Plus I doubt Natal will only be $10-20 toy

@Damnyouall: Why do you copy someone's post from another forum here?

I got it from HMV online for £24.99 and I totally understand that it will have limited appeal and will only last a few days if played for continuously, but saw it as something totally different from my PS3 and it's really for my 2 year old son....and I get the PS Eye out of it in the bargain.

It is a £19.99 RRP game don't forget so it's effectively a demo of what is to come with the PS Eye...and you can even pick up the game itself for £14.99 from HMV.

I reckon this is Sony saying, get this bundle and look at it like the Singstar / Buzz range and watch out because there will be another game coming out soon....and we want you to collect them all.

What's really stopping Sony releasing a Cat / Dog version as well as different animals and developing it further.
