hum, for me it is not really about selling much more hardware
it is more about keep the consumer aware about the 360 offer.

It is in france and the PS brand is still strong and can still erase the xbox name. Also they can also put the offer and not pay back the customers that most of the time will not go in front of the judge for a so minor point.

In another way it looks a bit desesperate.

they do pay back the customer. I had one of these deals when I bought my 360 and GTA -> 60€ reimbursed. (and that worked with all deals...)
