Graphics: PS1>N64 Loading Time: PS1Controllers: Original PS1Control Stick. N64 Wins because PS1 had to buy a Multitap Memory: PS1(had to buy a memory card)Games: Lets do this by genres
JRPG- PS1 WRPG- PS1 Shooters- PS1(even though N64 had the best shooter) Platforming Games- N64(DK64, SM64, Banjo Kazooie and Tooie) Fighting- N64(Super Smash Bros.) Racing- PS1(not even close) Sports- equal Action- PS1(both had some good fun action games, but PS1 had more)
Based on these things: PS1:7 N64:6
I had both consoles and I loved them both, but PS1 gets the slight edge. |
The bolded is absolutely wrong....the N64 easily had more power than the ps1....no contest.

Depends. N64 probably wins out, but I'd definitely say PS1 did some things better.
What I'd disagree with are his genre wins. PS1 killed N64 in fighters, and vice versa for fps. Both sucked for WRPGs, but both rocked for racers.

On a pure technical level , the N64 absolutely destroyed the ps1......look at games like donkey kong 64 , OoT and many more on the N64 that had no equal on the ps1.
What are those "things" the ps1 did better?

Mainly texture resolution and variety, due to N64's paltry 4kb texture limit and cart media. PS1 games tended to have better framerates too imo.
Of course going "to the metal" on N64 resulted in games that PS1 just flat out couldn't have run. Conker's Bad Fur Day or Battle for Naboo being good examples, they go well beyond *anything* on PS1 visually. Still, I think some PS1 games like Tobal 2 or Vagrant Story are equally impressive in their own way.
