Forums - Sales - Latest two polls from GameReactor, gaming magazine/website in Sweden

A few conclusions from the first poll:

1) 64% of all swedes want a PS3 (36% don't)
2) The price drop will almost double PS3's installed base in Sweden (12% will buy now vs 13% that already own one)
3) When KZ2/MGS4 come out (more games), installed base will almost double again. (23% more buyers on top of the 25% previous 25%)

If this was translated to WW sales we would have over 20M PS3 by the end of March 2008. I wish I could believe polls...

1) The statements "it's still too expensive" and "I'm still waiting for good games" are not the same as "I want a PS3" ... They're essentially a statement that if this condition (price/games) are met they will consider buying a PS3 at that point in time.

2) Only using data available from the poll, what percentage of people who responded were planning on buying a PS3 before the price cut? If you assume that everyone is entirely honest, the only option for people to choose if they intended on buying the PS3 was "now I'm buying a PS3"

3) How do you know if the people who said  "I'm still waiting for good games" even care about the games you listed? What if they like puzzle games or kart racers, will they care if those games are released?

Basically, you're reading the poll like a fanboy who wants it to mean something more than it does ...

Correct.  I'm a fanboy just like you :)

We can read anything from that poll, that was exactly the reasoning behind my post.

You can get the magazine for free in EB Games and other gaming stores, but I've never seen it in general toy/electronics stores.

And the polls are of course from the website.

There's your bias, people who go to gaming stores and gaming sites. I'm sure you would get different answer if you just asked people inside Toys R Us.

Just to be clear, I wasn't saying their was any intentional bias, only that there was some inherant bias in the numbers due to the sampling method is all.
