So, today I downloaded the demo of this Diablo clone. The game was made by Runic Games, formed by Travis Baldree, creator of Fate, the Schaefer guys from Blizzard and ex-Flagship Devs.
Music was composed by Matt Uelmen, so when you're in the town it feels just like Diablo. Interestingly, the art style also resembles the new Diablo style, as it's very cartoony. As a result, the games runs super smoothly while still looking pretty. And it's just like Diablo: a town with the gem seller, the item enchanter, the blacksmith, the merchant, two orcish creatures who can destroy items to recover gems or remove gems from items and a guy who mixes items.
There are three "classes", basically fighter, ranger and mage, and you have a pet (a dog or a cat), that you can send to town to sell unwanted loot, or feed him fish (there's one fish that turns the dog in some sort of zombie dog for a while).
I never played Diablo 2, only the first one, and it was too hardcore for me (clicking and having to use potions all the time). While this one doesn't feature the health orbs from Diablo 3, it's still a bit easier for noobs like me in earlier levels.
It's selling for $19 and looks like a good game to play even for a few minutes. But it's singleplayer only (they'll release a MMO later).
