October 23, 2007 - The recent Virtual Console release of Treasure's Nintendo 64 rail shooter, Sin and Punishment: Successor of the Earth, drew widespread attention, and it's possible that the game's introduction to the west was in preparation for a full-blown sequel on Wii.
Nintendo Power recently quizzed Treasure founder and president Masato Maegawa on the future of the franchise, and he said, "When we were originally working on Sin and Punishment [for Virtual Console], there was some discussion utilizing Wii-like controls, and I think now that we're working more with the Wii, it is something we'd very much like to try."
OPINION:
I dont know what to think right now. Treasure even remotely thinking about making a Wii sequel/spinoff/whatever is great nontheless. Sega has already reintroduced Nights and Capcom is porting Okami next year I believe. One more A title wont hurt.
My only qualm is that I bought Sin and Punishment on the VC a while back, and I wasn't entirely blown away by the time I was done with it. It has terrible voice overs, short gameplay, confusing story, and not to mention it costs 1200 Wii points instead of the tipical 1000 for N64 games. 200 points is no big deal except now instead of being able to get another N64 game, I can only get a SNES game or lower.
Besides its faults, its still a pretty awesome game. Amazingly fun gameplay, great graphics with nice touch of ingame cutscenes, and I have to admit the last level was pretty dam epic guys/girls. ITS EPIC.
The Wii controls will make the game better, I garanteed it (excuse my bad spelling). With more memory, IR sensory, and Wifi I can only imagine the possibilities if this game ever comes to the Wii. I want more of Sin and Punishment but im afraid Treasure will screw this up.
DISCUSSION:
What do u guys think? Excited? Did you even play the game? Got Milk?
