Forums - General - Deep Question...

The meaning of life is to search for the truth and pass the test. But if you haven't got the thirst for immortality you just follow your instincts, and risk getting punished for your bad deeds.

Yes there is an afterlife because there's also a God, and he wants his loyal followers to join him in eternity. Some people will be punished and then deleted after judgement day, and their souls will cease to exist.

Deleted? What do you mean by that?

Exterminated. How it will happen I don't know. The 'lake of fire' is a metaphor I beleive, but it says people are destroyed when they're thrown in it (and the really bad people are suffering in it together with Satan).

Life meaning of life is 42 that their is no meaning.

I personally don't believe in an afterlife, I think that this life we get is the only one. When we die, that's it. I don't see any way that our conscience can live forever, even though we can not.

Posthumous immortality seems like a nice idea, but it's not one I think could happen.

Actually, to be honest I think living forever after death seems like a bit of a curse.

But that's just my philosophy, it holds no more ground than anyone else's.

So you just no longer exist at all. I find that hard to believe. You yourself can't just turn to nothing. I mean...that's just weird to think about. Some sort of spirit (or something) has to live on.

That's just what I think.

Do you know how before you're conceived you have no memory or function because there was nothing there to process it? Well I think we just go back to that state after we die.

That may be true. But we do have that memory now and I find it hard to believe we lose it all.

I guess the only way to know is wait until it actually happens...

I would imagine that there has to be a way to find out without dieing. I wonder if anyone would ever try it?

Life is such an over rated phenomena. It's not magical, it's not divine... Hell, it's not even mysterious anymore. The part that encompasses organisms doesn't involves a spirit or some magical force that holds oneself in place for eternity. It's just biological.

If you believe humans have something that transcends this physical world and lives on as an entity, then go lobotomize yourself.

See how well your 'spirit' holds up.

You go to school, get a job, get married, have kids, retire, move to florida, then die.

And since I'm Christian I'm counting on going to heaven afterwards.
