I really want to know what the Nintendo fans think of this game. Well, other than the ones who think Nintendo should sue.

3D Dot Game Preview by 1UP

Take away all the graphical flash and what you have is basically Zelda II from another universe -- a universe where the follow-up to Zelda wasn't the oddball Adventure of Link but rather a game that served as a conceptual bridge between the first and third games in the series.

Here is another great piece from the preview.

Take my word on this: There's something incredibly sleazy about playing The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks and 3D Dot Game Heroes back-to-back. It's basically like going on a comfortable date with your long-time girlfriend, taking her home, and then sneaking out to spend time with some crazy stalker chick who dresses exactly like your girlfriend in order to catch your attention. And you've been dating your girlfriend for 20 years and you really like her, but after all that time you can't help but feel like your relationship is getting a little stale and predictable. And the stalker chick is a lot younger, and specifically styles herself to look like your girlfriend did back when you were in junior high and she was the class hottie who you thought was way out of your league -- plus, the stalker adds an extra touch of daring, modern sexiness that your girlfriend never would even consider, conservative and modest as she is.

3D Dot Game Heroes getting DLC, including optional install.

3D Dot Game Heroes is one of the games I am most looking forward to next year. Already out in Japan, the game is heavily laden with Zelda references and has a fantastic art style that really makes it stand out. If I love it as much as I hope I will, then it will not leave my wallet alone, because it will support plenty of DLC.

A free update is hitting the Japanese version this Holiday season a loading screen, an optional hard drive installation, and the aforementioned DLC support. Don't worry though -- the DLC is looking to be incredibly reasonably priced.

The first DLC pack is scheduled to arrive Christmas Day, and will include ten stages for the game's Block Defense mode, as well as ten custom character models for players to edit. It will cost 250 Yen ($2.75). On January 8, ten more custom characters will be released for 100 Yen ($1.10). Not too bad, although the custom characters would have to be pretty amazing to be worth any cash.

Atlus has revealed no DLC plans for the game's North American release, but you can be sure that some are in place. In any case, I'm mega hyped for this one, so stay tuned for more news on 3D Dot Game Heroes over the coming months, including one or two surprises.

I hope the DLC comes with the American version. Maybe the special edition...

I am glad about the optional install. That should make the loading super short.
