Forums - General - Michael Bay - Upset with Paramount, "Blu-Ray is where my money is."

The more reading up I do on the format war, the more convincing it seems that HD-DVD will certainly not be going away anytime soon, and may indeed turn out to be the eventual victor (if ever there is one). However, both formats will likely be around for a long time to confuse potential buyers and irritate movie fans.

His "new" view on HD DVD

"Why isn't samus in a mario kart game?"

So all we have to do to get Michael Bay to stop making movies is make Blu-Ray fail?

Sweet, I'm on it!

Transformers was good for what it was: a mindless summer action flick, but nothing else. However, blu-ray needs any support it can get to assure a victory so I am glad to hear he is speaking out for it.

His "new" view on HD DVD

Last night at dinner I was having dinner with three Blu-Ray owners, they were pissed about no Transformers Blu-Ray and I drank the kool aid hook line and sinker. So at 1:30 in the morning I posted - nothing good ever comes out of early am posts mind you - I over reacted. I heard where Paramount is coming from and the future of HD and players that will be close to the $200 mark which is the magic number. I like what I heard.

As a director, I'm all about people seeing films in the best quality possible, and I saw and heard firsthand people upset about a corporate decision.

So today I saw 300 on HD-DVD, it rocks!

So I think I might be back on to do Transformers 2!

Michael Bay

Hilarious XD.

wow Michael Bay! The king of big-budget garbage movies!

it is actually those Autobots saved his sorry ass
with or without him, The transformers will hit the jackpot
and now he speaks like he is Steven Spielberg and want to quit Transformers 2 because it's not on BD!

maybe he should go back make his own film, something like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre VII: Kill the stupid Director?

His "new" view on HD DVD

I don't think you quite understood the point of this thread.  Back when Paramount annoucnd HD DVD exclusivity, Bay got pissed. Then the next day, he issued the retraction you provided.  People wondered whether the retraction was genuine, or whether Paramount put their foot down, threatening him with royalties or other things if he spoke out against HD DVD (threatening to remove him from the T2 project, perhaps).

Well, today's USA Today article has a new quote from him reiterating what he said initially, though in a much friendlier way, showing that he was and still is upset with Paramount for going HD DVD exclusive, and that Paramount obviously had something to do with the retraction of his initial statement.

This is even dumber for him to say since his movie just broke the first day sales records for HD movie formats on said HD DVD.

Oh well. Honestly I would love for Transformers 2 to be made by a director who knows how to implement some freaking character development. Special effects can be done by anyone. Directors need to be able to make people ACT.

Yeah that was a reply to Entroper and konnichiwa's postings.

I agree to an extent.  What was up with that awkward masturbation scene?  Totally could've skipped that.  It makes things a bit uncomfortable watching that when parents are in the room, lol.
