Forums - Sales - Sales prediction: Mario Kart Wii will outsell WiiFit by end of generation

Now that Nintendo has effectively killed WiiFit sales and hence disrupted its world dominance by replacing it with an inferior*, slower selling (half)sequel, I predict that by the end of this generation, Mario Kart Wii will have outsold the original WiiFit.

If you want to argue, argue. If you want to disagree, disagree. But I will be right.

*as in, slower selling.

Poor Wii Fit, you've failed again. Once you were the Great White Hope, now you're just a has-been.

Unless Nintendo bring out another fantastic racing game with a ton of ad support, at some point, MKW will pass WF in sales.

Yes, I am sorely disappointed in WiiFit.

Its like an ex you feel sick even thinking about.

What if there are people (crazy people, maybe, but people none the less) who hold that Wii Fit sales and Wii Fit sales are at least partially connected? Who want to argue that Wii Fit's true sales are measured in balance boards?

I consider Wii fit and Wii fit plus to be the same for sales purposes, because as Khuutra pointed out both are pushing the balance board with basically the same software, plus just being an upgraded version, but yeah if you count them separately, then its possible that Mario Kart will pass Wii fit

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

Well you can't count them together, Wii Fit Plus is also selling just software.

The question might be whether or not MKWii can outsell the Balance Board.

Also Wii fit plus is selling faster than Wii fit did

Not a chance, balance board will easily outsell Mario kart, but really how do you measure balance board sales, since I don't see separate measures for the balance board sales

Indeed. I think you're correct.

I personally believe Mario Kart Wii will sell 28-33 million, whereas Wii Fit is looking at 26-28 million.

Edit:

Fun fact:

Mario sales in the 6th gen, across all platforms (27 games): 58.5 million

Mario Kart sales in the 7th gen (2 games): Should end in 50-55 million
