I don't think a PES bundle is gonna be that magical, mainly because it's on PS2, 360, and out later on Wii. The PS3 and 360 versions are not much of an improvement even graphically over the PS2 one. Even if people do upgrade some of them are going to go the 360 route.

Doesn't PES come out on everything? IGN says it will even be on PC and cell phones. Why will it do so much for PS3? Couldn't someone just buy an Xbox 360 and the game for less than the cost of a PS3?

PES is incredibly mainstream and those people know one name : Playstation.
True, PS2 is going to sell way more copies, but with all the promotion I see (and I'm in a really tiny country market-wise) about PES+PS3, I think it will have a serious boost until Mario Galaxy (16th November).

What about my friends in China?

Don't they play these games?  Over billion people and no games?   

I was under the impression that the new PES will be bundled with the 40GB PS3 at a low price, as far as I know it is the only system having a pack-in.

I could be wrong, but that's the impression that I get (Mighty Mighty Bosstones reference anyone?). 

PS3 (40GB) + PES 08 -> 450Euros.

They are far from being doomed. 2008 they will preform much better.  I was simply stating for this year but didn't actually mention that.  I just was expecting a lot more in terms of sales from such a huge price drop.   I mean if they are ever going to overtake the wii in WW sales, you would think a price drop like this would go a long way in achieving this... sadly this is not the case.

I expected 60k for the PS3 this week, why ?

- full week (not only 5 days as the 13rd week)
- no marketing around the PS3 meaning that people will have to slowly go in retailer to check the PS3 price drop.

I also predicted the Xbox360 to be outsell by the PS3 during the month of november/december. Time will tell.

Now we are close to the complete sold out of the 60gb model. soon people will only have the 40gb left.
Hopefully, Ratchet is around the corner as the 40gb+spiderman and the bundle PES2008+40gb for 430$ too.
A lot of people will buy the PS2 version. That is sure. But some may switch on the PS3 boat too...

 Remember the PS3 40gb model at 400 euros is not here to boost the sales immediately. It is here to help the sales all over the Xmas. When CoD4/AssassinCreed and others multiplateform game wil be release, people will hesitate about which console they want to purchase because the Xbox360 offer (premium/Elite) is closer than never from the PS3 offer. Because of the 40gb entry price, the PS3 is much more competitive and sales should react quite well at each next title release.

Multiplateform games like Skate were better on Xbox360 !
People still consider the PS3 is laking title right now.
But be sure they will buy one (if they can pay 400euros !!), if games like Unchartred/Ratchet/CoD4 dont bomb.
