Forums - General - Why are American Football fans soooo boring / lame?

He's right. I've cheered at my football team (the Broncos), I've shouted, and I've danced.

But, yea, American football fans just aren't rabid enough to break out in full brawls whenever their rivals come to down, don't engage in pre-planned street fights as happens in some countries, and if the quarterback accidently throws a game losing interception that is run back for a touchdown, that QB doesn't have to fear for his life.

After seeing how many people around the world "celebrate" their teams, I think I'll be happy with the more sedate worship we have here.

I give this thread a 9.2.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

I give your football team a 6.8

I love the rest of your post also. However, don't you think it would be fun sometimes to have riot police show up and tear gas the stadium?

To answer the question while ignoring the hostile undertones about american football, the reason why the fans don't always go into a frenzy is because football does not play like soccer. There isn't a turnover every 15 seconds. When the home team is on offense, the crowd quiets down to allow them to communicate between their coaches and amongst their O-line, backs, and receivers. No game I know of requires the level of communication that football does.

Yea, but while there are asshole american fans, it doesn't usually break out into a stand clearing brawl that results in tear gas and injuries.  Nor do we have to separate our fans from each other at the game so they won't harm each other.  I'm sure that there are plenty of normal soccer fans, but if I was a soccer fan from another country, I wouldn't think think of mocking the American fan at all.  The douchebaggery that goes on all the time at soccer games just leaves no room for outside criticism.

I give that post a 9.3.

That is true also, a good home team only makes alot of noise when the other team has the ball.  Home field advantage can be a strong factor in a game.  At the old Mile High Stadium in Denver, it was near deafening when the opposing team was on offense.

I give that post a 9.8.

Thats like saying why are Americans KKK members?

In football(soccer) it use to be the case, 70s that fighting was widespread and even the occasional killing. Now i dont think in all the matches in Europe ive heard about 1 death this year.
