) modern-day hostility comes from It's long and not very interesting. We didn't have much "war" to talk about, all the verses that talked about the Independance War were removed so as to not offend Spain (they were "a bit" insulting 
). You can check it, it's a bit slow, the last part is the best as it picks up and it's like encouraging (last line says "Let us live crowned in glory, or let us swear, in glory to die", and the last part of it is repeated three times, each louder)
These guys sing it best, they really put the heart into it (it's the shortened version, since the long one is so long it's not really worth to put in a sport event)
