Forums - Gaming - EA's LA Studio now hiring for "NEX-GEN" Platforms -PS4 closer than we think

Probably for the WiiHD or maybe the Xbox720 or whatever they are calling it. I cannot see a PS4 for a long long time. It's cost them too much this far and they will want a huge install base and recouping some cash before they move onto another platform.

I reckon we are easily another 3-4 years before we even see a PS4 emerging. They may be talking about it before then, but no release until the PS3 has had a solid 7 years out.

Prediction (June 12th 2017)

Permanent pricedrop for both PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro in October.

PS4 Slim $249 (October 2017)

PS4 Pro $349 (October 2017)

Probably the xbox 720, it can come out by 2012.

ROFL, being in third place doesn't mean you get to decide when you launch next, in fact if any company had the ability to wait before releasing its Nintendo, because of their position and their profits, just because Sony lost a ton of money doesn't mean they'll be the last to launch, in fact because of their position and losses, they'd have the greatest reason to launch first

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

I've noticed a growing trend of fanboys to tout the release of a WiiHD lately. It's getting pretty ridiculous. Wii is still selling the most consoles. It's making the most profit, yet Nintendo is going to release their new console first? Is there something in the water. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but the Wii could stop selling tomorrow and the PS3 would never match it's sales. The PS3 would have to outsell the Wii by over 360,000 units per month to equal it in sales by the end of 2015. To equal the 360 userbase by the end of 2015 it have to out sell it by over 85,000 units per month.

Thank you, sheesh, I was starting to wonder if I was the only person on the board who realized this

No you aren't the only one. I have yet to hear any reason that begins to approach logic to support their viewpoint either.

No one has given a reason that isn't ridiculous why Nintendo should launch their next gen console in 2011

Looking at current sales, its crushing PS3 and 360, and doing better than even PS2 on a weekly basis, even down year on year

Not to mention making more profit than MS and Sony's consoles, so why would Nintendo be the first to launch?

They're already coming out with a new DSi

It's not a bad idea to come out with a new Wii model to replace Wiis in existing homes.

Wii can't sell forever.

New DSi is stil the same system, just with larger screens, you can't really revise the Wii Wii can't sell forever, but its still selling

Wii HD could just be a Wii with upgraded graphics and up-conversion to HD resolution.

probably for next gen handhelds since the ipod touch is beating the crap out of the DS and the PSP atm.

wtf are you talking about! that aint even fair. you can't compare an app handheld device that people use for other purposes and not mainly for gaming. I can't stand when ppl talk about apple handhelds beating the psp and ds

That would create problems as Wii HD games wouldn't play on normal Wii's

Well, this generation has peaked so it's about time to start thinking of next gen.

I can't wait to next gen. I love this gen but I want it to be over while the X360 is on top lol.
