Pray-station

I actually Pray-stationed about it and I converted in March of this year.  Lol.

A co-worker convinced me to switch to the PS3 for the blu-ray and free online through PSN.  I love multiplayer games and I had trouble affording XBL, since I'm a PO, HO!  Lol!  So, I bought me a PS3 and I have loved it ever since!!!

So you can't afford XBL but you can afford to buy a new PS3? Even without any games with tax you spent what equals to 6 1/2 years of XBL. The moment you buy a PS3 game you play you've spent what equals to 8 years of XBL. So your investment will break even in the year 2018. I'm assuming you're not a financial analyst.

If you guys are gonna troll or stealth troll at least make it a convincing argument. $4.15 per month to play XBL is not expensive.

I am not trying to be a fanboy, just comically objecting to the PS3's very misleading and silly new slogan.

I guess if you really feel I need to expand, I shall.

I do agree that the fun time one was subjective.  I also would like to note that I do not include web-based applications with the PS3 because they are not built in features.  The Web Browser is the feature, not the uses of it.  The experiences with the PS3 web browser are also very limited seeing as how it is such a proprietary browser and does not support all the latest online media formats.  With Xbox 360 these are integrated into the online experience itself with unique and smooth flowing interfaces.  If I have missed anything or you wish to argue the point, feel free and I'll ammend the lists.  I would also like to note I am saying irregardless of price factors.

PS3:   Xbox 360:

1080p w 5.1/7.1 (Blu-Ray)
Hard Drive
Wireless
Headset (add-on)
Ethernet (add-on)
Wireless controllers (easily rechargable)
PSN
Video Store
Limited Game Store (????)
Arcade Game Store
Netflix (disc based, no party support as far as I know yet)
Web Browser
Vid Zone
Cross Game Chat (rumored, not sure yet)
PSN ID (some games require their own username, could be a non-issue for new games now)
Trophies
Home (avatars and avatar items and chatroom)
Large Game Library (PSN + Retail)
Install Other OS (only on old models)
Upgradeable hard drive

Hard Drive (model dependent or add-on)
Wireless (add-on)
Headset
Ethernet
Wireless controllers
Faceplates (add-on)
Xbox Live (gold/silver)
Video Store (more titles than on PSN, largest on demand offering in the world)
Music Store
Large and growing Games on Demand store
Arcade Game Store
Indie Game Store
Netflix
Last.FM
1080p w 5.1 (Zune)
Facebook integration
Twitter integration
Demos for every arcade game
Party Chat
Video Parties
Cross Game Chat
Universal gamertag
Achievements
Avatars + Avatar Items
Install full games to HDD
Larger Game Library (XBL + Retail)
Community and Events channels

Just because its integrated you think Facebook and Twitter shouldn't count on the Playstation side? Or that you can listen to Last.FM using the browser. In fact, the browser offers huge amounts of freedom.  And really all the "X game store" on both sides should really only count as a single game store as both have similar offerings from what I've seen. You've also left out PSP support on the Playstation side. Plus ethernet is not an add-on (unless you mean the cable). And Kboard and Mouse. And the easy transfer of files from PC to console (on both sides). Are you sure you don't work for Ms as this is normally what companies do to spin there list of features for a device. Take very similar feature and repeat them to artificially inflate numbers.

On the PS3 you can't chat with people or post status updates. What is the point of Facebook then?

I'm requoting myself. I noticed you said that you converted in March. So you spent the $399. With a game and tax you spent to what equals 9 1/2 years of XBL. So make that the year 2020 when your investment pays off. Congrats on saving money with the PS3.

I just have one question. If the PS3 "Only does everything" and if you stacked up all the features side by side of the two consoles (including add-ons, XBL/PSN, etc), would it not be accurate that the 360 "Does MORE of everything"?

I just keep imagining this slogan for the next batch of 360 commercials. It'd be both true and hilarious!

I don't really follow... especially now that PS3 has Netflix.

A watered down, disc based Netlfix, Huzzah!

And that was not exactly the only unique feature....

If you stack up all the features of XBL, PSN, Xbox 360, PS3, plus add-ons available to each, the 360 "Does MORE of everything"

Plus it "Does MORE gaming" and "Does MORE entertainment" and "Has MORE fun time"

I didn't really follow the Netflix news (since I wasn't interested in it the first place), I thought you just had to put in the disc, and then you can stream. It's as much as a hastle as putting in a Bluray disc to watch a movie like most people do with PS3s anyway.

Even if we do consider the disc based thing a negative, it seems like a very very tiny weight on the scale.

Can you please be specific with the features and add ons of the two consoles? You take it for granted that everyone knows and understands what you're talking about.

I don't see how it does more gaming (sheer volume of titles are kinda weak, when we're this far in the gen with old games filling up that space), more entertainment seems on par now with Netflix multi, and more fun time seems very subjective.

Can you at least not seem blatantly fanboyish? When I want to be a fanboy, I at least acknowledge and half joke about it, or stealth it in. No one's going to come to your support with that kind of post attitude.

I am not trying to be a fanboy, just comically objecting to the PS3's very misleading and silly new slogan.

Thank you for offering some options I missed.  I'm no expert on either.  Your attitude could have been a bit improved though.

And I thought I explained very clearly how Facebook, Twitter, Last.FM, etc cannot count as PS3 features?

My best friend owns a ps3 and he got the YLOD and decided to through his ps3 out as well as buy a 360. Sighh....... in other news the world turns and the leaves are turning colors. Why even post this stuff? Anyone can make this crap up it just fuels fanboy hatred.

I converted my entire crew. It was a hard fought battle actually. But I was crafty. I convinced 1 of my main friends that he would want Bluray for his new 1080P TV. Then after a strong 360 supporter's 360 broke for the second time he switched to PS3 so he could play Madden with friend #1 on PSN. The rest of the crew was simply converted by KZ2, Infamous, and the price drop was the final straw for the last ardent 360 fan. So my crew has gone from 90% 360 users to entirely PS3 over the last 2 years.

Your converted your whole crew? Steroid I salute you..

If you have a REAL crew, that ain't necessary. Among my friends only 1 have the 360 and about 30 PS3...

Ah, Norway, that explains it.  A statement like that is pretty rare and nearly impossible in most other parts of the world save for Japan.

LOL at the xbox fanboy meltdowns on this thread.

So he threw a perfectly good console away because he got another one?

Sounds like either your friend is an idiot, or you're lying and you made the entire story up. Fanboys make me sick, like people need to claim allegiance to one sole console/brand at a time, and toss the others aside. Whats wrong with keeping both?

Fanboy Conversions... you guys need to get lives and forget this console war crap.

Perfectly good console? It had RROD for the 3rd time it was broke, un-playable. He didn't want to have to send it away to get fixed again so & I quote these were his words to me "I threw it out". Whether he actually physically threw it out in the trash, I don't know.

I just came on here to tell other people this, not to start some console war. I found it funny that my best friend who would of bad mouthed the Ps3 all day, eventually ended up getting one.

Calm down, Jesus.
