Now tell me please, why is having a gun still legal in America?

It's in the 2nd Amendment...which means it's kinda important to our way of life.  Imho, blaming guns, is like blaming games...this bastard would have stabbed the kid, imho...although he might not have caught him, you might say, but...that's speculation.

Maybe if he had to use a knife instead of a gun it would have given him a few more seconds to have a "moment of clarity".

That's also speculation.

When guns are legal it is much more than just about homicide.

I will try to google it but in 2007 according to the NY Times accidental deaths by guns were higher than those of homicide by guns.

I respect it is your constitution by it netherless seems to me a bit..... To each his own...I suppose.

Fuck this father. Who the fuck shoots their own flesh and blood over a video game?

And to those in here talking about how hard it is for Obama to change the constitution, then where are we to look? If the most powerful man on the planet isn't the one to initiate it, are we supposed to accept that one of the richest and most advanced country's in the world simply has a HUUUGE flaw in their constitution? Come on guys, we know better than this. It is no longer the 1700's.

@Gnizmo - why does it matter whether it was the person or the gun??? Actually, an issue like this is a direct indicator of necessary change to gun laws. Yes, this man is crazy. Yes, this man could have killed his son using a knife. But let's step back from this scenario for a minute. What if this man had decided to go on a rampage. Do you think he'd get to more people with an AK47 or a butcher knife? Crazy people exist everywhere. Murderers and sociopaths have been around as long as human beings have. Seems like a good enough reason not to let people own firearms.

It's actually kind of depressing.

Beacuse they still  follow some silly crap law they made in the 18th century.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

Flamethrowers, Poisoning food, booby traps, vapourizing using alien technology ? Please.

Please what? I am doing my best to try and engage the other side of this argument. Give me a realistic explanation why the gun should be the focus of this tragedy. I have explained very well how a number of other devices could easily be used to achieve similar results.

well the issue is the combination of having both.  At least the kid would have a fighting chance if the dad didn't have a gun.  If the dad was extremely drunk it shouldn't be that hard to get away the dad probably can't even walk straight.  It takes a hell of a lot more guts to get a knife and stab someone than to use a gun also.  You can easily get drunk and start pointing a gun around, but you aren't gonna get drunk and forcefully stab someone without having some idea what you're doing.

There's no realistic way you can get rid of alcohol no matter how long we talk about it.  Getting rid of guns is realistic (although in the US' case it is quite difficult) and many countries do it.  Is there any country that has a ban on alcohol?  I don't know of one.  The US tried it once and it failed miserably.

yes all middle eastern countries (except lebanon i guess and egypt only allows non muslims to drink) ban alcohol.

Wow i guess FPS are good. Think about it the guy probably never really shot his gun, then, all drunk and shit can fire one shot at a moving target and hit the person in the throat. That's just bloody cool!!!!!
