Because crazy drunken sociopaths would never use a different weapon, and totally would follow gun control laws. Cause they are such moral and upstanding citizens.

When I want to kill someone, I want it to be easy and quick. I also don't want to stand close enough to get blood all over my clothing. And I damned well don't want to have to run while drunk just to catch him. Guns are the way to go. Noone should need to get out of breath just because of a little killing.

why blame games?
why blame guns?

he was drunk and 80% of accidents are caused from drinking.

Tried that. Turns out people will all get drunk secretly, get really pissed off, and start Beer Riots. It would be a good idea in theory though.

so according to the people in this thread you ban guns and they will kill the kid anyway or get a gun illegally.  If that's the case I don't see why the dad wouldn't either get alcohol illegally or get high in another way.

Please what? I am doing my best to try and engage the other side of this argument. Give me a realistic explanation why the gun should be the focus of this tragedy. I have explained very well how a number of other devices could easily be used to achieve similar results.

Well the kid would still be alive if pops didn't have a gun, sure he would belt him maybe, but that is unlikely to kill.

Because no other weapon would have been available to him? He couldn't have had a knife, pipe, rock, fist, car, or anything else and just gone nuts? Killing one person is not terribly difficult I am afraid. If he would reach for a gun something tells me the next logical choice in his mind would not be "non-lethal force."
