I call the Genesis/SNES war a tie.

Alot of people still foolishly believe the 360 is as powerful as the PS3, this is the only way to educate them.

I'd say the way to educate them is to actually come up with something that looks noticeably better than 360 games. That hasn't happened yet.

I still have to see one 360 game that looks as good as Heavenly Sword or Motorstorm .

Gears of War still says Hi from 2006 to both.

Dirt on the 360 says Hi to Motorstorm.

I whole heartedly agree that no 360 game out right now, has the same production values of Motorstorm or Heavenly Sword.

I don't believe that Gears looks as good as Heavenly Sword, maybe it comes close to Motrostorm but HS is probably the best looking next gen game out RIGHT NOW, I know Mass Effect will probably be better but I'm talking as of October 23, 2007.

Those who speak their minds on the internet and such are a very small part of the gaming population

There are many more people reading such discussions than there are people particpating.

Oh, and there was hardly "thousands of internet coverages" about Madden running at a lower FPS on the PS3.

Well google gives me well over 100,000 results with the keywords "Madden PS3 framerate XBox 360".

1. Still a very small number of people

2. Jump ahead to page 10 on your search results - its all general madden reviews and news

But hey, if you want to think the general public thinks about the technical merit of a game, go ahead. Just make sure you dont look into the sales of a game called Grand Theft Auto. Hell, even Halo 3 would qualify IMO, er, I mean your honest opinion, right?

Are you sure you didn't mean graphics? I can understand saying those games look better, but saying they are made better than some of the major 360 titles (ie Bioshock, Halo, ect) is a little off.

"Why do they call it the xbox 360? Because when you see it, you'll turn 360 degrees and walk away"

When I say production values, I mean beside the actual gameplay.  I mean character models, graphics, sound, everything to the eyes and audio.  Gameplay leaves a lot to be desired, IMO.

This debate will carry on and on. Theres miniscal performance between the 2. If your expecting to be able to see a major difference at the end of this cycle in 2011. Your wrong.

I think Sony was expecting the PS3 to be significantly more powerful than any console in its generation... Microsoft surprised them by releasing the Xbox 360, which seems to be neck and neck with the PS3 in terms of overall hardware capability (even if the Cell gives the PS3 some advantages which will take long to be realized, if ever, and which are not applicable in all the areas due to high specialization of the SPEs).

Unfortunately for Sony, Microsoft gave developers a big advantage on the software level. This gen's (let's stop calling it next-gen) games are very expensive to develop, and Microsoft's development tools can ease the pain a bit, and probably reduce the number of developers necessary to produce a game.

My Mario Kart Wii friend code: 2707-1866-0957

The amount of power is less important than the dev's knack for implementing it via the games during programming.
Few people are adept at programming for the PS3, but more are coming along nicely.

A console is only as good as the software that is produced on it. If it's difficult, time consuming, and monetarily consuming, where's the incentive to make games for it?

100% agreeing with the 4 last poster

Some encouraging comments from Activision, but 4 to 5 years? I really don't think it will take this long, as most 1st and 2nd parties are already tapping into a good deal of the enormous additional performance potential regading their leading PS3 titles (R&C Future, Uncharted, Killzone 2, Final Fantasy XIII, etc). I don't think 3rd parties can afford to stay behind for this long with regard to enhancing game engines. They will start to look like incompetent in consumer eyes and nobody wants their company to be viewed as such.

really ??? why couldn't they ??? regarding the current situation I forsee them letting down the system plain and simple..... the people who don't owne PS3 won't care and won't have a grudge against them... and the one with a PS3 are a minority and their non satisfaction will be less costly than investing in developing a game for which the expenses are not covered by the sales.... they won't think long if it stays like that..... look at the game cube scenario or the dreamcast.... you don't have X solution to PS3 problem...... if the sales are not taking off fast... we won't even talk about 3rd party games in 4 or 5 years... that will be marginal by then.....

that's not fanboyism it's the market reallity.... and you can come up with the best 1st party of the millenium it won't change anything
