Forums - Sony - On Metacritic, Uncharted 2 goes... up?

It goes up 1 point wow I see nothing special about that. It's just numbers.

The reason that is, is usually because sites with advanced copies are held to a strict "can't release until after the game is out." policy if they relate it below a certain amount.

It could be that nearly everyone who got an advanced copy met that qualification, and therefore the second batch of reviews are mostly those who didn't get advanced copies and are reviewing a game they themselves bought.

"usually"?  Not only are you sure it occurs, but it occurs often?

I've been given three advanced copies of games, released reviews on the same time frame as those other sites, and never once had such a stipulation.  Those things happen sure, but to act like they're the norm is bull.

I don't think it matters if a game is rated 91 or 99. It's a AAA game all the same.

Guess i should of put it more cleaerly "Usually with big ticket games."

IE games publishers need to sell well.

Well I would consider KZ2 to be a big ticket game, how big are we talking here?

Someone really should make a thread detailing the history of metacritic of metacritic scores.

Like: Initial score After 10 reviews After 20 reviews etc.

That would be most interesting. I think. Though I'm not sure it's such an easy thing to make. Maybe not worth the trouble.

This is invisible text!

nah Metacritics doesn't count every review. I saw some review that didn't get count from some other games.

This just means that Naughty Dog will have one hell of a time topping U2, when U3 is released.

Does it really make a difference?

yes it does

when your up in the 90's every point matters.

I agree with this statement, 1 point in the 90's, especially the high 90's can mean quite a bit.

I have a question. Did you enjoy the game as a 96? Was it any better as a 97? Would it be funner as a 98, or a 99? Heavens forbid a game gets an 100, you wouldn't ever be able to enjoy another game ever again =O

We aren't talking about enjoying the game, regardless of what the score is I freaking LOVED this game. When it comes down to CRITICAL ACCLAIM however, every point does matter, get it?

Why does it matter how highly acclaimed it is? If you anjoy a game rated 67 you would still enjoy it as a 97. I have said it before and I will say it again, Metacritic is only useful for easy access for reviews and to resolve bets. Scores do not equal a games quality
