WaW Wii had well over one million sales. Not great by CoD standards, but far from bad (especially when you concider the lower cost of Wii development). CoD5 sales were hurt by Activision themselves. Had Activision put the entire game on the Wii and made the game look better (the graphics were pretty bad), it would have sold much more. Maybe not 360, PS3, or PC levels, but still very well (probably closer to the two million mark). Now they are giving us a two year old game, and even though the game should be much better than the Wii version of WaW (better graphics, includes everything possible), the simple fact that it's two years old and there are no real screens, trailers, gameplay vids, or advertising means the Modern Warfare Wii sales will be, once again, hurt by Activision themselves. Perhaps they will get it right with CoD7, but I'm not going to hold my breath. |
This is the kinda reply I was hoping for.I know the article I posted is a 2008 thread, but forgive me if I sound ignorant,I just never realised that the sales were hurt by the low supply.I always thought it just didn't sell well because the wii audience wasn't interested and besides, the game wii version wasn't even enthusiastically developed.OK,so Activision hurt the sales by themselves. From the link I posted, the wii version sold faster than the HD versions but was always in really short supply.I've also seen people post on this site that they can't find Muramasa anywhere.Does this happen to most hardcore wii games as far as you can tell?If it does, then why do developers complain that sales are lower on the wii when they won't even supply the games to be sold in the 1st place?Or is it the case that COD is 1 of the few games that this has happened to?I'm just trying to find out whether this is a trend for wii hardcore games or it only happened to this game and maybe a few others.
