Launching a new Sony Ericsson mobile phone ($800 NZD) the cellphone retailer my brother works for (Branch Manger) will be giving away a PS3 to the first 200 people who buy the new handset at full retail price. With the PS3 retailing for about $600NZD that means $1400 worth of hardware for $800.
A pretty sweet deal methinks.
Don't know whether the PS3 giveaway is the slim or leftover phats that are not selling. But either way it's a damned good deal if you're in the market for a good cellphone, and you live in New Zealand of course.
I'll let you know how long it takes for those 200 PS3's to go.
By way of putting this into perspective, if one extrapolates PS3 sales in Aussie to the NZ population then the current weekly sales of PS3s in New Zealand should be around 1200 per week. So 200 PS3's means almost 17% of weekly sales.
I assume giveaway promotions like this aren't factored into sales figures on this website? Though actual sales could be reduced during the period of this promotion.
Edit: It's not just my brother's store, the promotion is nationwide.
