Forums - Nintendo - How soon should we expect Wii2?

If the motion controllers for the other systems don't have killer apps, they don't come into this equation. It doesn't matter how many developers want to jump on them.

Sony has a ten year plan for ps3 -> 2016ish for their new console.

Nintendo never releases console first.

It all depends on Microsofts release

M$ will most likely launch a new platform in 2012. Just look at the facts. There is no way that Natal can carry the 360 for more than a few years. And once M$ launches a new console SONY will be forced to as well

Long Live SHIO!

Rushing out new consoles can take a lot of money, and this recession means Sony and Microsoft likely can't afford to lose a bunch of more money just to get a new system out. Not that they won't, but not for the sake of it. If they feel they can make their systems profitable for longer, that is a better business move.

Nintendo will launch when they feel the time is right.

Well the 360 is dead in the water now next year for a new console

"...the best way to prepare [to be a programmer] is to write programs, and to study great programs that other people have written. In my case, I went to the garbage cans at the Computer Science Center and fished out listings of their operating system." - Bill Gates (Microsoft Corporation)

"Hey, Steve, just because you broke into Xerox's house before I did and took the TV doesn't mean I can't go in later and take the stereo." - Bill Gates (Microsoft Corporation)

Bill Gates had Mac prototypes to work from, and he was known to be obsessed with trying to make Windows as good as SAND (Steve's Amazing New Device), as a Microsoft exec named it. It was the Mac that Microsoft took for its blueprint on how to make a GUI.

""Windows [n.] - A thirty-two bit extension and GUI shell to a sixteen bit patch to an eight bit operating system originally coded for a four bit microprocessor and sold by a two-bit company that can't stand one bit of competition.""

Please link me, Sony saying that the PS3 will last 10 years does not count as they said similar things about the PS2 and and they still say the PS2 is on a 10 year plan. It should be quite obvious that they don't mean no new hardware for 10 years but if they have said that directly then again, please link me.
