Forums - General - What do you think of the Cops?

Do you find them to suck, do their job properly etc.. Just your honest opinion and your past expiriences with them.

I find MOST cops hardworking people who try to do their job properly but people always find a way to f*** it up.I dont understand why criminals or people who do weedget madwhen they get in trouble with the law. The officer is just trying to do his job so he can make money to feed his family. When they resist arrest they claim police brutality of racial profiling. When they drive recklessly or dress like a thug they get mad when they get stopped.

More people die in car related incidents than homicides (in canada at least) so them stopping you for driving while you chat on your phone (its a law in canada) is saving your life.

However, I dont respect those cops who abuse their power and beat people up for no reason. I actually want to go to college, study criminal justice and become a cop when I get out of school. The pay is great for Toronto police (cadets start off with 48k) and it constantly rises each year. Also the more education you have the more they pay you. You also get great benefits..

Soyesthat is my honest opinion of the cops. Im not saying that if you dress proper or dont talk on your phone while driving you wont get stopped, but if they stop you they ared oing their job and if you have nothing to hide dont make a buig deal out of it :)))

This is pretty much how I feel about a good 40% of cops down here.

I think most of the time cops are good.

You know, I don't know any, so pretty much how I think of them is influenced by T.V.

they are annoying, they always try to arrest me while I'm doing my missions.

All of my encounters with the police have friendly, helpful and professional, even if I was just involved in a traffic accident.

Then again, I'm white.

If I was First Nations and liked to drink a lot, the police around here might drive me to the edge of town on a cold day and confiscate my shoes.

I respect the police, because the police have never been used as a tool to oppress my people. Others can't say the same, so they don't respect the police as much. Police aren't very helpful when you don't respect their authority. I'm not trying to excuse any of this behavior, especially not when it gets compounded by other racist ideas, but I do understand where the strife is coming from.

The "missions" slang word already reached australia? Or did it come from there?

I am a black male in his late teens... I Live in an area near Toronto that is really growing in crime and I attend the worst school in the board in terms of grades and crime (10 lockdowns in 2 years)

I have never been stopped by the police. When I walk down the street they dont even glance at me. I think it all depends on the way you present yourself. It makes a difference when you dress "proper" and walk upright instead of dressing with baggy clothing with a bandana coming out of your back pocket.

I even went to the police station and they were very friendly when I askedthem abotu career oppurtunities.

proper really??? and you live in Canada I don't know how it is up there but down here in the south cops are generally self righteous assholes who couldn't cut it in the Army...
