Non Sequor, sorry but you lost me when you criticized HL2. It's really odd for someone to like MP3 but not HL2, considering both are intelligent shooters that have a lot of puzzle elements in their design. Both also have very diverse environments. Half-Life 2 has brilliant level design and you were constantly changing setting. I don't understand your complaints about this game at all. Bioshock got somewhat repetitive, but HL2? No, that game constantly changed setting.

Agreed. And in BioShock's defense, how much did you expect them to do with an underwater city?

I'm playing all the way through Orange Box and the entire set of games is still brilliant, even after a few years for the previously released content.

Oh, and I am a bit disappointed at the campaign length of CoD4. It looks like I'll GameFly it now and if I really enjoy the MP, I'll buy it after the holidays. I still haven't had enough time to dedicate to Halo 3's MP.

Um... Okay?

Heavenly Sword is PS3-only while CoD4 is PS3/360. I beat Heavenly Sword in a little over 5 hours.

I fail to see how I helped him make his point.

Probably much too high of a score... For an FPS to get a 10/10 it should do something that truly changes the way the genre is played, I haven't seen that CoD4 yet. Don't get me wrong, it's a great game, but it's hardly revolutionary.

There's a big difference between a single player game lasting 5-6 hrs and costing $60 and a single player + multi player game lasting 5-6 hrs at the same price.

However, 5-6 hrs for a game of this type is pretty bad. I think its likely that they either got lazy or more likely they wanted to cut development time and costs. Gears of War was supposedly this short wasn't it? Bad precedent maybe...

Im my opinion achievements help a lot with short games because they usually do things like requiring a person to play through the game several times on different difficulty settings, collecting things, etc, making a 5-6 hour game take 12-15 hours or longer to get them.

Achievements, while cool, still don't make up for a super-short single player campaign.

No im not trolling Im just stating facts. A short 360 game= PERFECT REVIEWS

A short ps3 game= NOT PERFECT REVIEWS

Thats my point.

You can have achievements in a 15-20 hour long game, too. See Metroid Prime 3 and its three difficulty levels and credit-earning system. See bug collecting and piece-of-heart collecting in Twilight Princess.
