Forums - Sony - Lens of Truth: Uncharted VS Uncharted 2

I wish people would focus more on the fun factor and accessibility than they often do. It feels like I'm living in PC gaming land sometimes.

I've been playing some Uncharted 1 since I bought the PS3, and I've gotten used to some aspects of it, but I'm still not having fun with it. Also I started playing Ratchet and Clank, and it still has that dreaded(imo) second analog camera control, where you either have to always have your finger on the analog or it takes ages to recenter behind your character. A Z-trigger for instant recentering would have been heaven.

Also, I'm a little bothered by this focus on cinematic style. As I started grinding on a rail with Ratchet and everything started becoming super cinematic, really I couldn't care less. I haven't even watched that many movies. Maybe I'm old school, but I thought games were supposed to be fun first and foremost. I still remember when FUN FACTOR was a very important aspect.

Oh well, it's back to playing Pacman on Namco's Museum on my DS. I almost can't believe I'm saying this after just one month, but I can't wait to sell my PS3. Unless I figure out some games that are actually fun, that I don't have to bend my tastes and focus on visuals and bogus things like hype to enjoy.

While I understand your position, the opposite of cinematic or visually impressive is not fun. To use your same example pac man is the least cinematic game ever perhaps but that does not automatically make it fun. ( I actually find it rather repetitive.)

Play other games ? if you don't enjoy games that focus on one thing play some that focus on others. Personally pacman is freaking boring along with tetris and other games that don't focus on a compelling way to tell a story. This is my opinion.

I agree with Adjuciator. Everyone have different tastes, but a game being cinematic does not mean it isn't fun. Uncharted 2 is some of the best fun I've had with a videogame for a while, and I would choose a quick session of Uncharted 2 over Tetris or Pacman any day.

Awesome article on Lens of Truth. I really like that website.

All I have to say is that hopefully this article showing the PS3 in such a positive light shuts up the haters who say that Lens of Truth is a Xbox 360 biased website.....

Did someone just try to compare Pacman and Uncharted?

You cleary see difference.
