Forums - Nintendo - Crystal Bearers developer: Selling on Wii will not be easy.

"1# it's not a "mature" hardcore game.... which is the reason titles like Madworld, dead space, HoTDO sold little imho (you could add deadly creatures...yuck)"

Don't forget niche as well. Such games wouldn't even be on HD consoles, as the risk is too high.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

It's trollish to quote the developer of the game? interesting. We should all ignore the actual developers of the game and make up our own information then.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

Third parties that put out quality titles that people want have not had a problem. Crystal Bearers may not be as wanted as the main FF series, it is far more wanted than an on rails shooter. Assuming it's actually a quality title, it will easily break 1 million.

What are those quality 3rd party titles you are referring to? I am quite confused when I look at the top sellers.

There are plenty, just go and look.  You can pull it from this site.  Don't wine if there are also non hard core quality games in the top list!

Besides, even if there were none, it wouldn't matter, as my statement is still true if no third parties developed quality titles that people want.

Tell me what quality third party games that people wanted and din't sell well?

PS: I love The Conduit.  It's a good title, but I wouldn't call it polished enough to be a quality title.  Considering it's only a good title, it has decent sales, but the bar is higher to be considered a quality title.

what sells on wii generally is mainstream brands.

given the success of the wiiware titles andf the fact that choccobos dungeon was over 200k i can see this game hitting 400k at least. should be profitable at 500k i reckon

I asked for your opinion. Where did you see whining?

Ok, so it was confusion instead of whining...

Game party did well because it's cheap (released at $19 I think, maybe $29 but quickly dropped), so they knew it wasn't a super game but didn't try to pass it off as one. Some people want cheap games.

Carnival games had a fair amount of in store advertising, is not a shovel ware game, etc... haven't played it myself, but my wife indicated she wouldn't mind trying it.

What other games are "confusing" when you look at the top sellers?

Let me ask this again. What are those quality titles you were referring to in the post I replied?

Then why release it on Wii if you think its not going to sell well
