Forums - Gaming - PS3 and X360 Dust-Storm! Help!!!

Okay so i have a very dusty room... and i've been playing my PS3 and 360 everyday lately (PS3 = DW6: Empires / X360 = Magna Carta II.) and while playing these awesome games on my awesome HD twins i noticed something... something sneeze worthy... holy hell!!!

DUST EVERYWHERE!!!

like a freaking storm of it, it was horrible! on my PS3 its highly noticeable because of the shiny black finish but i didn't expect it on my 360 to!

Long story short, is there anyway i can keep my HD twins Dust-Free for longer? and HOW do i clean the little holes from the PS3 and 360's Vents!?? HALP!!!

1. get one of those little aerosol cans of compressed air, and blow them out...word to the wise, wear a dust mask, or better yet, bring them outside so the dust doesn't end up back in the console.
2. keep them off carpet, and way from dusty objects/areas.
3. dust your freaking room once in a while!!!!

Remember, dust can be a huge contributing factor in overheating which can lead to an RROD or a YLOD

1. Where do i get those? and how would i use it to get rid of the dust? really man Dust is even in the USB ports for both my 360 and PS3, its disgusting.

2. My PS3 is the closest to the carpet so it gathers the most dust, but its not on a carpet but near it... while my 360 is much higher up on my 1st dresser but it still gets very, very dusty for some reason...

3. lulz im lazy though. :D

4. WTF Dust = RROD and YLOD? >_>

Use this manly duster to pwn the dust.

RAWR!

I hope the wii doesn't have vents, it'll just be another console to clean, and i just looked at my PS2-Slim and OMG... poor, poor PS2. >_> when i bought it, it was black... now its grey... >_>

1) Vacuum the floor at least once a week. Make sure you go under everything. If you have carpet it can be a huge trap for dust and keeps your room dusty.
2) dust the furniture in the room at least once a week
3) vacuum out (or use compressed air if you have some) the vents on the PS360 once every few months
4) Get an air purifier/ionizer (this can be expensive and probably not worth it unless you have dust allergies)

1 & 2 are a must if you want to reduce dust and increase the life of your electronic products.

As a note, I hadn't vacuumed the floor in my apartment for a few weeks and just got a Roomba (robotic vacuum) and I ran it last night. The entire dirt compartment was filled to the brim with dust that it pulled out of the rug. I was amazed at how much there was especially since it hadn't been that long since I vacuumed. The big thing was I could actually see it rather than it getting sucked inside a bag in the vacuum.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

Yes, dust = RROD/YLOD because dust = overheating, overheating= general hardware falure, general hardware falure = RROD/YLOD.

Anyway, you can the the compressed air at any computor shop, and at walmart. But I would vaccum them out first as Soriki suggested, then blow the heck outta ONE side, vaccum the opposite side again. This way you blow any dust that the vaccum didn't pick up, to one side of the console, and hopefully vaccum the majority of that up.

The only way to get rid of dust is to have a clean room. Dust your room completely then vacuum. Use attachments of vacuum to clean furniture and shit as well. There is no possible other way to keep your consoles clean. If you force you self to do it once a week for a month or so it will become habit and you'll be living a healthier lifestyle.
