FACT: Even XBL uses servers to match people together, you are paying to use those servers (along with other fun little things that come with Gold) Even free Xbox linking programs like XBC use servers to network Xbox's together as a P2P network. What you though that just magically happened? Besides, if paying for the live services are a crime, so is paying for online porn and video streaming services, after all, they all make you pay to use the internet that you already purchase.

I'm pretty sure PSN uses servers too. Don't quote me on that. And you really gotta get a better argument than the video streaming. You're not paying for the streaming. You're paying for the video. If you bought the video then gave it to them and then they charged you it would be the same thing. That being said I would pay for Live if I had a 360 so it doesn't really matter to me. But just get a better argument for it than that.

Umm... Yes you are? IF you stream a video from a video service, doesn't it cost them bandwidth?

Doesn't your money help go towards paying for bandwidth?

Similar with xbox live

Yes but you are not directly paying for the streaming. So going by what you just said the money you pay for a game should go towards paying for MS bandwidth for Live. To be honest I still don't think people would pay for gold if it didn't include playing online. The rest of the features are just to make it look worth the price.

Well, when I stream a movie it sure feels like that's what I'm paying for.

I'm not paying for a back massage when I stream a movie.

The only one I have an issue with is point 4. The problem with Microsoft charging is that they're charging to play online when I've been playing games online since 1996 for free and I can get on Steam and PSN and play nearly the same games online for free. If I've been playing online for free for the past 14 yrs, and I can get a similar service for free (and I actually prefer Steam over Live), then I don't see why MS can get away with charging. If everyone could play with Silver membership then that'd be different.

XD what? I never said PSN didn't use servers, everybody does. Anyway, Video streaming is a perfect argument, you are right that you are paying for the video, but you are also paying for the streaming service.

@Scoobs, I see you missed the part about FREE NETWORKING SERVICES LIKE XBC. Just because  Ican watch streamed videos for free on megavideo, does that mean that other streaming sites are ripping me off? Your argument reaks of inconsistancy.

@ NKAJ...the dude was being sarcastic. And yes, peaople actually do pay for porn, why do you think there are so many pay sites...now, I get to say it : ) "argument thus defeated" Although the correct grammer would be, "thus, the argument is defeated" But hey, you didn't hear it from me!

Past Avatar picture!!!

Don't forget your helmet there, Master Chief!

I've learned nothing.

So...the point of this thread is?...

Like everyone has said before, the 360 has hidden costs, is protected by mainstream cluelessness, and came out a year before any competition. On the hardcore side it has a strong fanbase who NEED their Halo, regardless of how many times they need to get their console repaired.
PS3 sold more consoles on the same timeline as the 360 and continues to even outsell it now, and even though 360 just had a price drop, the boosted sales are virtually gone already.

360 is not a bad system. If there was no PS, I'd have an XB.
