Look, the ps3 began to catch much momentum before the 360's last price drop. then all of a sudden the 360 consistantly out sold the ps3 for months, maybe a year, or so . well, now the 360 dropped their price around the same time as the ps3 . so, this time the ps3 has consistantly outsold the 360. was the magic number 299? I dont know but it seems like a big improvement. really, didnt the 360 come out around a year before the ps3? as far as I am concerned sony's next gen console came a year later than microsofts. to be as close to microsoft as sony is only goes to show that the 360 isn't as impressive as some would like to make it. i mean these threads that compare the two hd consoles is rediculous. money talks, and the wii has clearly been dominating this gen. the wii has always been less expensive than its competitors. um, is the wii a better condsole than the other two? nope. Yes the ps3 can catch the 360, but will it matter? doubtful.

the thing is ps3 its trending away above 360. in the same time frame.

will it matter? no, but this kind of competition helps us the consumer.

u know xbox live may end up free next gen is sony manages to keep pushing further their service.

Highly unlikely. As long as MS has Halo people will pay for Live.

A more plausible outcome, Sony starts charging.

Its HIGHLY unlikely SONY will go from a free service to a charging service

I don't see that happening at all.

Right... you don't think Sony is taking notice to the billions MS is generating?

That could help cover the billions Sony has lost since the release of the PS3.

If you can be bothered to read below..

It will be interesting to find those "billions" from Live you are talking about.

This is not an anti-MS thing, it's an anti-I-make-up-my-facts thing.

The x360 division is actually losing a small amount of money each quarter since it turned a profit last year.

Live is generating money and without Live MS x360 division would be in a far worse situation.

This I think is not bad for MS considering where it is coming from.

Wow, the PS3 has outsold the XBox 360 by 1 million units in only 8 weeks. The 10 big weeks are left to finish up 2009. 1 million could go out to 3 or 4 million. The PS3 is closing the slaes gap very quickly on the XBox 360. Victory will soon be for PS3 over the XBox 360 in total lifetime sales. I am counting down the months for the PS3 will overtake the XBox 360 and fly past it in console sales.

The PS3 will sell up to 100 million consoles sales lifetime and will end up doubling the lifetime sales of the XBox 360.

Five weeks until Black Friday.

Before start the week of Black Friday, I predict that PS3 will outsell Xbox 360 by 1.7-1.9 million since PS3 Slims Launch!

Ms is not just gonna sit around and let that gap grow.. come on MS.. drop the price this holiday you know u want to.. ps2 vs 360 arcade 120

Yeah? You think they will issue a third pricecut in a little over a year?

I doubt it because even though the 360 doesn't have a bluray drive it's still a powerful machine and I doubt it's that cheap to produce. You need to keep in mind that the Microsoft is still 3 billion in the hole for the 360 and another 6 billion from the original X-Box.

Why take another hit by slashing and burning prices when they have a 7 million unit lead? I'm not saying they couldn't do it, but why would they? There's no need for them to panic unless somthing drastic happens like that gap shrinks to 2 million or somthing, which isn't going to happen for a while.

360 just had a price cut and it barely helped. What makes you think dropping price again and taking even more losses will help anything?

Personally I think a $150 arcade would sell like crazy but I think MS will save this for next year.

There wasn't a price cut exactly. They just got rid of the $400 model. Now the $300 model has different colored plastic and a bigger hard drive.

You can't expect that to have a big impact on sales.

I mean they recently dropped the price to 200$ for the arcade.
