I looked at the charts, and it's crazy: in Japan PS3 slightly outsold Wii even in the very week of the latter's price cut. Even crazier considering Wii outsold PS3 WW by more than 80k, more than 30% that week. In Japan in one year period ending 17 Oct, Wii sold more than 30k only 14 weeks, PS3 did it 15 weeks. Total sales still see Wii leading by ~400k total in the same period, thanks to drops less deep during sluggish periods, but nevertheless these partial data of PS3 able to get more than average sales more times than Wii, to generate more times enthusiasm, is impressive, it means that this year Sony did big efforts in Japan, before and after the cut.
