Forums - Nintendo - Dead Space: Extraction sold 9,000 in the US last month, Divnich blames EA

this game deserves more than 9000 sales, i dont care that its on rails.

Around the Network

There are so many reasons why this game failed, you can't even finger advertising as the single cause.

He's right that it's EA's fault though. Not sure who else's fault it could be. You can't really blame the market for failing to buy something that it doesn't want. I suppose you could blame Sega and Capcom for beating EA to the rail-shooter genre by a country mile.

How about the fact that it's a rail shooter with cinematic values instead of arcade values? Meaning it puts you in the position of waiting to be allowed to shoot again while a scripted event you are probably not interested by continues to play.

Light gun games always had cutscenes, but they were to give you a few seconds break from shooting (most were fairly intense).

i agree, the cut-scenes interrupted the gameplay way too many times, kill 5 enemies then watch 5 minutes of cut-scene, they should have had the cut-scenes between levels instead of every few minutes.

And for some reason they decided to give you about 10 seconds of camera control every now and then(like saying "ohhh look its more than just a rail shooter")...its as if the "game" has an identity crisis like if it doesnt know if it wants to be a movie or a shooter. They pushed the tech and forgot to put actual gameplay and to top it all off the devs start blaming everyone but themselve...meh
